With the Nigerian superstar’s single soaring up the Billboard UK Charts, D’Banj swung by Plumsted <strike>(insert appropriate wordplay here)</strike> Manor School to a proper celebrity reception - I’m talking screams, autographs, undergarments flung his way and the customary Illuminati sacrifice.

Sample this: D’Banj and a section of the girls dancing to his smash single, as the rest fuel them with energised chants.

From security guard to this.

Not bad at all.

“Lebete! Lebete lebete!”

“When you fell down from heaven.”

Always wanted to use that line. And here’s why this was my chance.

Image / Sphum’s Facebook Page.

Meet South African R&B singer Sphumlile Radebe.

Gerrability Factor: 0.81

“Push” is a single off her mixtape, “The Secret Garden” (released April 2012). And the feel of this single is undoubtedly R&B, which immediately distinguishes Sphum from the vast majority of South African exports - kwaito, house and hip-hop.

Watching this video, Ciara’s “1,2 Step” is called up from my memory, considering the sub-urban feel, and… something:

Particularly 1.28 & 2.50. Related: When was the last time you listened to this one, ey?!

That aside, “Push” makes for some nice easy listening… Bah, I give up on pretending that I’m being professional about this: She’s gorgeous. Gorgeous, and sings. Can definitely gerrit.

I’ve just <a href="http://www.hulkshare.com/sphum/946582/The%20Secret%20Garden" title="Download Sphum's mixtape, "The Secret Garden"" target="_blank">downloaded her mixtape, I shall give it a listen and tell you what I think of it. I do hope I enjoy the rest of the mixtape as much as I enjoyed “Push.”

Sphum, you and I need to have coffee sometime love. *sly smile*

*-*-*

Sidebar:

Gerrability Factor: A measure used to determine how much a person under review can gerrit. The Gerrability Factor considers the following key subsets:

Sex appeal - taking 40% of the consideration.

Intellect - 20% consideration.

Humour - 20% consideration.

Special gift/talents - 10% consideration.

X-factor - 10% consideration.

Note: Consideration for “Sex appeal” may be viewed as having the remaining 4 attributes as subsets, as the reviewer may deem fit (i.e. intellect, humour, gifts, X-factor).

dailystruggle:

A few words on via dailymail.co.uk:

He gave himself a 140 per cent pay rise… used state funds for late payment fines on his utility bills and £660 a day on fresh flowers… He spent £240million kitting out a new presidential plane, complete with £1million soundproofed doors on a luxurious double bedroom and £60,000 bread ovens to ensure fresh-baked baguettes. Then he became embroiled in a series of financial scandals, including claims he took illegal donations from the elderly heiress to the L’Oreal fortune.

Or, as the average Kenyan MP would put it:

“Shida ni nini?” (“What’s the big deal?”)

Scientist David Edwards teamed up with French Designer Philippe Starck to create the WA|HH mouth spray that gets you drunk instantly, but only for a few seconds. And the best part is you won’t have to deal with and splitting headaches when you wake up the following day.

Ever wish you could feel…
